The alarming scenes on Bolivian streets have stirred concern in the Andean nation. This follows the ousting of former left-wing President Evo Morales, a member of the same party as current President Luis Arce, in what many have described as a coup in 2019.

Kathryn Ledebur, a political commentator and director of the Andean Information Network, spoke to Al Jazeera live from Cochabamba, Bolivia. She stated, "I think it’s very important to remember that Bolivia had an illegal government with the support of the military and a coup in 2019."
