Bilkis Bano Verdict: The Supreme Court on January 08 struck down the Gujarat government's order granting remission to 11 convicts who had gang-raped Bilkis Bano and murdered her family members during the 2002 Godhra riots. During a Press Conference in Delhi, Congress National Spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party and said that the party had so many slogans like 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', and they made a direct effort to save the culprits.
"An important decision has come out in a very serious case, BJP has many slogans like 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', and you made a direct effort to save those culprits...One thing I would like to say is that we are proud that our party was the first party to say that premature release is a stain that will not be removed from BJP... We had said at that time on 18th October 2022 that you were misleading the people...Because the Home Ministry had said that this is the decision of the state government," said Abhishek Singhvi.
