The Syrian-Canadian creator of Peace By Chocolate, a popular chocolate store based in Antigonish, N.S., expressed his joy on Friday after U.S. President Joe Biden received a gift of one of the store's chocolate bars during a welcoming ceremony in Ottawa.

Tareq Hadhad said the moment was "absolutely unbelievable. Totally incredible." He said he was in disbelief after watching Green Party Leader Elizabeth May give Biden a "Peace Bar" during the ceremony.

Biden, known for his sweet tooth, also elicited laughs when — after handing the candy to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to sign the House of Commons guest book — quickly asked where the chocolate bar had gone to. Trudeau, who had handed the bar to someone else, quickly returned it to him. The U.S. president then told the reporters covering his visit that he might share the chocolate bar with them later, "depending on how tough your questions are."
