On Monday, U.S. President Joe Biden expressed strong concern and dissent over the Supreme Court of the United States' ruling on former presidents' legal immunity to all official acts.

"This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America. Each of us is equal before the law. No one, no one is above the law. Not even the president of United States," he said.

President Biden stated that the decision almost certainly implies that "there are virtually no limits on what the president can do."

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in light of the events of January 6th, expressing disappointment over the potential impact of the ruling on public knowledge and decision-making.

"The American people must decide whether Donald Trump's assault on our democracy on January 6th makes him unfit for public office, in the highest office in the land. The American people must decide if Trump's embrace of violence to preserve his power is acceptable. Perhaps most importantly, the American people must decide they want to entrust the president once again the presidency to Donald Trump," Biden said.

"The president is now a king above the law with fear for our democracy, I dissent. End of quote. So should the American people dissent. I dissent," Biden said.

SCOTUS issued a precedent-setting ruling Monday, that granted broad immunity from prosecution to Trump and other presidents. This extends the delay in the Washington criminal case against Donald Trump on charges he plotted to overturn his 2020 presidential election loss and all but ends prospects the former president could be tried before the November election, a ruling that could significantly influence the upcoming election.
