U.S. President Joe Biden said the attack on U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband on Friday was "despicable" and everybody needs to stand up against violence in politics.

"Enough is enough is enough. Every person of good conscience needs to clearly and unambiguously stand up against the violence in our politics, regardless of what your politics are," Biden said in a speech in Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, former U.S. President Barack Obama said at a rally in Georgia that Nancy Pelosi’s Husband, Paul Pelosi, was a “good friend” and that politicians stir up divisions to make people “angry."

Vice President Kamala Harris decried the attack and called it an act of "extreme violence."

Police said the attack wasn’t random. "This was not a random act. This was intentional. And it's wrong," San Francisco Police Chief William Scott told a news conference. Scott declined to comment further on a possible motive for the assault.
