BC avalanche: 3 German tourists killed, 4 others injured in heliskiing incident

The mayor of a small village in Bavaria, Germany says three people killed in an avalanche near Panorama Mountain Resort in B.C. all hail from the municipality of Eging.

“All of us in our community are deeply upset and feel deep sorrow,” Walter Bauer said in a written statement.

A fourth person who was injured is also from the same village according to the mayor.

RCMP have confirmed that a total of ten people were caught up in the avalanche near Invermere, B.C. while heliskiing.

Four people who were injured in the slide are expected to recover.

RK. Heliski, the comany involved, tells Global News the skiers were among nine guests who went out with a guide when they were caught up in the avalanche.
