Barbados is entering a new era, as the former British colony officially becomes a republic after removing Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is the first commonwealth country in nearly three decades to declare itself a republic.
The split is amicable though, with Prince Charles also flying to Barbados to watch it happen.
