A fierce battle for control is raging in the city of Bakhmut and its surrounding areas on the front lines of eastern Ukraine.
Russia has been unleashing its firepower on the city, almost destroyed and nearly besieged.
Its forces are trying to win a rare military victory after months of fighting while the Ukrainian troops are digging in.
