Austria entered its fourth national lockdown on Monday, with frustrated people in Vienna saying the current situation resembled a "luxury prison" and that they were fed up.
The streets of the capital Vienna were quieter than usual as café terraces stood empty and most shops remained closed.
Last week the Austrian government also announced it would make it compulsory to get vaccinated as of Feb. 1 in a country where many are deeply skeptical about inoculations.
Roughly 66% of Austria's population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, one of the lowest rates in western Europe.
