1. U.S. forces helping to evacuate Afghans desperate to flee Taliban rule were on alert for more attacks after at least one Islamic State suicide bomber killed 85 people including 13 U.S. soldiers outside the gates of Kabul airport.

2. President Joe Biden vowed the United States would hunt down those responsible for twin explosions at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan and said he had asked the Pentagon to develop plans to strike back at them.

3. Seven U.S. Capitol Police officers sued former President Donald Trump, alleging that he conspired with far-right extremist groups to provoke the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the Congress.
