Assam May Go To Supreme Court Against High Court's 2004 Blast Acquittal

The Assam government has decided to seek legal opinion and is contemplating to move to Supreme Court after the Gauhati High Court's verdict that acquitted all six convicts in the 2004 bomb blast in the state's Dhemaji, which had killed 18, including 13 schoolchildren. The explosion had taken place during Independence Day celebrations and six people were convicted in 2019. The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) had claimed responsibility for the attack, which had also injured over 40 people. While there are allegations of poor investigation by the Assam Police, the over 19 years of wait for the victims' families seems to be getting longer. Ratnadip Choudhury reports.
