As US sees record chicken prices, economists say Canada's unlikely to be hit

In the U.S., chicken prices are seeing record highs as people turn to the food staple in an effort to save money given the price hikes on beef and pork.

In an effort to boost their margins, U.S. producers like Tyson Foods are scaling back production to keep prices from rising further. But even with that change south of the border, Canadians are unlikely to see such an impact both due to the small amount of imports coming in and the country's supply management system.

Sean Previl spoke with food economists to find out what Canadians should expect ahead of the holiday season.
