In a cost of living crisis, the offer to buy now, pay later might seem increasingly attractive. And, online or in person, more and more shoppers are being offered the chance to pay in interest-free instalments by firms such as Klarna.

But while taking out such a loan is extremely easy, critics are worried that the risks of taking on debt are not clear enough.
