Amber Heard took the stand on Monday in the ongoing defamation lawsuit brought by her ex-husband Johnny Depp, telling the court she believed she “wouldn’t survive it” if she had not filed for divorce.

“I was so scared that it was going to end really badly for me,” she said in the Fairfax, Pa. court.

Heard testified that at the time she filed for divorce the violence “was now normal and not the exception” in their relationship.

Heard testified that she filed for a restraining order because she wanted to “change my locks,” stating that she “couldn’t sleep and would wake up in a panic.”
