As the future of fossil fuels remains uncertain, Alberta's oil producers say they want to be part of the climate solution, with plans to reach net-zero emissions and transition to renewable energy.
But the promises come despite a big year for oil in the province. Although the oilsands have worked to reduce the amount of emissions produced per barrel after a drop in production in 2020, the sector has produced more oil in 2021 than ever before.
