Lahore High Court Chief Justice Predicts End to Establishment's Interference in Judiciary
Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed Khan expressed optimism on Friday that the establishment's interference in judicial matters will soon come to an end.
"Interference in the judiciary must be confronted with faith that it will eventually cease," remarked Chief Justice Khan during the inauguration of the judicial complex e-courts in Rawalpindi.
Acknowledging the issue of establishment's interference, Justice Khan noted that they often receive letters alleging involvement in judicial affairs. "I firmly believe that the establishment's interference in the judiciary will end soon," he stated, assuring that with a sense of accountability to God, these challenges will be overcome.
The LHC Chief Justice also commended the judiciary for "fulfilling its responsibilities without any fear or greed."
These comments follow a significant development on March 25, when six Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges wrote to the Supreme Court, accusing intelligence agencies of meddling in judicial matters. The judges urged Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to convene a judicial convention to address the alleged interference by intelligence operatives, which they claimed undermines judicial independence.
