Norman Drynock, 65, is being hailed as a hero for protecting Indigenous land from the raging wildfire that decimated the village of Lytton, B.C.

His daughter Starr is finally breathing a sigh of relief, after she hadn't heard from her father and wasn't able to reach him when she fled the village.

As Robin Gill reports, Drynock is not the only resident who defied evacuation orders.

But even as some families reunite and people try to comprehend the aftermath of the devastating Lytton fire, more than 150 wildfires are raging in B.C., putting more than 1,000 homes under evacuation orders.

Paul Haysom reports on the concerns of fire officials.
