Home Secretary Suella Braverman has described the conviction of a serving police officer for multiple rapes as "a dark day for British policing" and says "it's imperative that this cannot happen again."

David Carrick attacked at least 12 women over an 18-year period throughout his career at the Metropolitan Police in London, and has been dismissed from the force following a misconduct hearing.
