Palestinians and medics rushed to the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza on Wednesday following an Israeli airstrike.

Wednesday's attack followed Israeli strikes that hit the densely-populated camp a day earlier. At least 195 people were killed in the attacks, according to the Hamas-run government media office.

“We were praying in the mosque when we heard the explosion and (came out) to find that everything was gone,” said one eyewitness. “It was a massacre.”

Israel has said in a statement that Wednesday’s strike on Jabalia hit a Hamas command and control complex and killed the head of the Islamist group’s anti-tank missile unit.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said in a statement to its social media that it is concerned the Israeli strikes on Jabalia could amount to a war crime.
