Kenya's army has taken over security at its border with Somalia in recent years after attacks by al-Shabab.
There’s been a major operation to prevent fighters from moving easily between the countries.
The effort has greatly reduced the armed group's capacity to operate in Kenya, but it remains a threat elsewhere in East Africa.
