“Extensive” damage in Barrie, Ontario's south end after tornado moves through region

Video posted to social media on Thursday evening showed wide-ranging damage to homes in Barrie’s south end after a tornado tore through the region.

Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman said as of Thursday evening no deaths had been reported, but said damage was “extensive.” At least eight people have been injured.

Barrie police said damage to properties ranged in severity, from shingles blown off rooftops to fuller structural damage and vehicles being blown over.
